Why Healthy Eating is Important

You must heard the saying you are what you eat. It is true to some point, because if you don’t eat healthy foods you are not going to be a healthy person. The foods that we eat are very important for our bodies ability to maintain function, to grow and prevent us from getting sick. If you value your health you should therefore learn as much as possible about why healthy eating is important.

Eating healthy is important to us from the day we are born. We grow quite quickly as a child and this is partly due to the foods we eat. Foods contain nutrients that we need to not only fuel our bodies, but they also provide the very substance that builds our bones, muscles and organs. If you don’t get a balanced intake of nutrients it can cause all sorts of problems, including stunting your growth. Nutrition is even more important if you are a nursing mother, due to the fact that the breast milk contains the nutrients a child will need to develop and grow properly. As you grow older the food you eat is where you find the nutrients to develop, but it doesn’t stop there. Just because you go through puberty you can’t just eat what you want, eating healthy is still important. Your cells continue to break down and rebuild themselves every day until the day you die, so healthy eating is important throughout your life.

Why healthy eating is important is because it maintains your bodies functions. Throughout the course of the day you use energy walk, talk, think, breathe and perform any other action. The energy that it takes your body to do these actions comes from two places: your daily food intake and the fat reserves in your body. If you eat unhealthy foods, you will find you are storing more fat than you need or you will find you are not getting enough and you will feel weak or sluggish. Along with nutrients that provide energy, like carbohydrates and fats, you also need the correct nutrients to keep your organs healthy. If you don’t eat the correct nutrients your body can not produce the hormones it needs to make sure everything is working properly, as a result of this your body cannot function properly.

Finally, it is important to eat healthy in order to prevent illness. The bodies defence system will weaken if it does not get the correct nutrients, this will allow viruses and bacteria to attack the body. Its the same as a well trained army, if the army doesn’t eat well it will not do well in battle. Without drinking plenty of water and eating healthy food  your body will not operate properly on a day to day basis. It is therefore very important that you learn why healthy eating is important.
